Description
Two Walliserops trilobites, frozen mid-crawl across a Devonian seafloor. Finding one of these elaborate trilobites requires breaking through meters of Moroccan limestone. Finding two this close together is exceptionally rare.
Each trilobite displays the genus's signature feature: a three-pronged trident extending from the head like a crown. Dozens of free-standing spines radiate from their bodies, delicate structures that required painstaking preparation to reveal. Four hundred million years ago, these armored arthropods used compound eyes to navigate shallow tropical seas, their spines possibly serving as sensory organs, defensive weapons, or elaborate displays for attracting mates.
Condition & Restoration
All original shell material preserved including complete head shields, thorax segments, and genal spines. Both three-pronged tridents intact. Preparation represents standard practice for elaborate spiny trilobites. Specific restoration percentage not noted.
